Reflecting on Wealth Justice: A Poem

Stolen land and violence against our bodies.

Stolen indigenous land and violence against Black and Brown bodies.

That’s how wealth is created.

If this is our pursuit, I must ask us why.

Because if this quest for more requires violence that means money, value, wealth and worth are really about prioritizing who lives and who dies.

Lest we not forget that wealth is about power.

Our tiny sliver only proves that our safety, dignity and belonging is concentrated and determined by a small few.

To think about the false narratives and dichotomies we spread to justify the violent pursuit of capital leaves me breathless.

Because I wish it wasn’t true.
